Summer Reading List

I love to read but during the school year the only daily reading I typically get in (besides my devotions) is right before bed. However, summer is a game changer or should I say a book changer? My boys love to have me near by while they play outside so it’s a good excuse to get some reading in. Plus as a former teacher, I know how important it is to be a reading for pleasure example for your kids so I feel really good about having them actually see me read for fun. We are all so good about creating a summer reading list for our kids but are you remembering to create a summer reading list for yourself!?! Here are some ideas….

Light & Fun reads…

I adore the Shopaholic Series! Have you read these!?! I actually laughed out loud while reading these books. {Start from the beginning but honestly you can skip the last one… Shopaholic to the Stars isn’t great.} These other books by Sophie Kinsella are fun reads, too!

Can You Keep A Secret?

The Undomestic Goddess

And God Created the Au Pair by Benedict Newland & Pascale Smets

The Ivy Chronicles by Karen Quinn

Boy Mama reads… I read both of these years ago and I want to revisit them this summer. I got so many ideas from both that I think helped me be a better boy mama.

That’s My Son by Rick Johnson

Mom’s Everything Book for Sons by Becky Freeman

I haven’t read Wild at Heart by John Eldredge but I’ve heard good things and I want to check it out! Wild at Heart is more about men but I feel like this one could give me some insight into what I’m raising up.

Personal Growth reads…

Women Living Well by Courtney Joseph was the book study I did with a fabulous group of ladies last year. There were so many great nuggets!

This year’s summer study is The Best Yes by Lysa Terkeurst and I can’t wait!

Learning Something New reads…

I saw The Charleston Academy of Domestic Pursuits while watching my trash on Bravo and thought it sounded fun! I ordered it but it’s out of stock. I can’t wait for it to come in!

I’ve heard SO much about The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up
and Lord knows I could certainly use some more organization around here!

Here’s my list so far…I know I’ll add to it as the summer goes on. Follow me on Facebook to get the updates on what I’m reading and how I’m liking it. What’s on your summer reading list?
