making this small place our home

We live in a small house or I should say a relatively small house I know that lots of people live in smaller spaces than we do and with more people. However, in our little corner of the world, we live in a small house. It’s roughly 1300 square feet; single story; 3 bedroom; 2 bath; living room; kitchen; eating area (no dining room); family room (we call it the TV room); and an office that we converted from part of our covered back porch. When we moved here we were only going to be here for 2-3 years. The fix it up and sell it plan. Ummm…8 years later we are still here. My husband and I take turns being dramatic over the size of our house. We after all, NEED more space. Our kids shouldn’t HAVE to share rooms; they should have a HUGE playroom for all of their stuff and to wrestle in (the room to wrestle is clearly my husband’s drama and not mine.). My drama looks more like…we NEED a mud room to corral all the “stuff”. We NEED a guest bathroom, a dining room, and a bigger kitchen with a HUGE island to entertain in!
We’ve made it our mission to make our small space into the space we WANT & NEED. Do we get everything on our list? Nope, one of our favorite things to do as a couple is daydream building houses so we can’t ruin that awesome quality time with getting everything we want, now can we!?!
I thought it would be fun to share our journey as we make this small place our home. I hope that you will share how you are making your space big or small your home, too!
Pop back over next Wednesday, I’ll be sharing all of our BEFORES. Trust me they are fantastic befores! Looking at them makes me laugh and to be totally honest a little proud of the creativity we have had over the past 8 years.
