reclaimed wood choose happy sign

I have wanted to do a reclaimed wood art piece for a while so I asked Micah to keep his eye out for some seriously sweet wood. A few days later he came home with this beautiful pile of wood that once was a fence. Now if that doesn’t say love I don’t know what does!

Cut the wood down to size. *We used a chop saw.

Lay out the wood creating the center of your frame, playing around with the order until you get the color variation you want. Measure the center of your frame so you can cut the boarder with 45 degree angles.
Don’t you just love the color of the wood!?! So many greys, blues, silvers, ahhh wood heaven!

Clamp the boarder pieces around the perimeter of the center slats. Attach the center slats by nailing through the boarder into the slats. I didn’t do anything else to my frame. I liked nature’s patina but if you didn’t have wood that have as much personality, you could sand and stain or paint your finished frame.

Once everything was set and ready to go, I cut a stencil out with my Silhouette and painted {choose happy}. I have to say my sign makes me happy!

I l-o-v-e, love the way it turned out! It was such a fun project for Micah and I to do together. Plus it was all free!!! Who doesn’t love a little fabulous for free!?!
